Full sized replica spitfire
Our full-sized replica spitfire pays tribute to the 55 squadrons of Spitfires that participated in the invasion of Normandy, carrying out ground bombing missions and additionally, operated as Spotters by U.S. Navy Cruiser Scouting Squadron Seven in support of the United States Navy and Royal Navy Cruisers and battleships bombarding land targets.
In the waters just outside Castletown D-Day Museum sit the last intact Phoenix Caissons from Mulberry B (Arromanches). These made up temporary portable harbours, developed to facilitate the rapid offloading of cargo onto beaches during the Allied invasion of Normandy in June 1944.
Atop these are our six D-Day statues representing two British sailors, two dockyard workers and two American GIs.
Located above our motor pool of military vehicles, the Nazi bunker contains a collection of authentic Nazi artefacts including battle-scarred flag and German weaponry. Take a look down the scope at the beaches of Normandy and witness the invasion from the other perspective.
Immersive audio system
The D-Day Museum features impressive surround sound, offering our visitors a truly immersive wartime experience. Whether you are trying on uniforms, climbing inside vehicles, or exploring the Nazi bunker, our audio system helps you get a taste of what many experienced on D-Day.
